Gentle Yoga Teacher Training

Friday, April 21 @ 4:00 PM Sunday, April 23 @ 4:00 PM PDT

IN PERSON OR ONLINE

This training is designed to help yoga teachers to instruct students needing modifications of the basic yoga postures—due to age, weight, illness, injury or limited flexibility. With poor lifestyle habits and chronic stress, many students come to yoga unable to safely practice the postures. In keeping with the principle of ahimsa (nonviolence), teachers will learn to teach these students how to modify the asanas so that they can benefit from a physical practice as they build strength and resilience,  and potentially work toward the full postures.

This course will:

  • help yoga teachers evaluate the limitations of their students and suggest appropriate modifications of the poses for them.
  • include routines for those who need to practice in a chair.
  • allow yoga teachers to experience the modifications themselves within the structure of a class, as well as in more detail in interactive workshops.
  • include discussions on the philosophy and psychology of teaching gentle yoga. Review a checklist of considerations.

Handouts provided.

Prerequisite: 200-hour yoga teaching certificate

Receive a certificate acknowledging your 11 hours of training.
