Menopause is a natural passage from an active and achievement-oriented stage of life to a more graceful and inwardly-focused one. Yet, many women find themselves beset with physical and emotional issues during this time. Ayurveda, the ancient science of health and well-being, provides a holistic way of understanding the changes which are occurring. It also offers simple dietary and lifestyle tools and practices to help maneuver the transition.
By way of orientation, the session will begin with a brief recap of basic Ayurvedic concepts like Dosha, before then proceeding with some Ayurvedic insights into menopause. The session will include practical, specific suggestions for diet and lifestyle adjustments intended to help manage the transition to and through menopause—naturally and with grace. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
Teacher
Based in San Francisco, Lalitha Vaidyanathan is a Sivananda Yoga teacher and lifelong practitioner of meditation. She is a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor, currently completing her Ayurvedic Practitioner training with the Kerala Ayurveda Academy in the Bay Area. Lalitha has used the principles of Ayurveda to manage personal health challenges, including her own transition to menopause. She is passionate about sharing whatever she knows of this ancient science to help others heal and be well.
