ONLINE Krishna’s Birthday Kirtan
Tuesday, August 11, 2020 @ 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
In honor of Krishna Janmastami, the birthday of Krishna, we will sing his names. When the mind is intent on singing the Lord’s names and glories, worries and stresses are released. The devotee feels the presence of God and thins out the ego. The heart opens and purifies. We open to the inner Light, Love, and Consciousness that has always been within.
Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva at midnight in a dungeon in Mathura. Miraculously, Vasudeva was able to carry the baby out of the dungeon, make his way to Vrindavan, switch Krishna for a baby girl born to Yashoda and Nanda and return to the dungeon unnoticed—to save the child from the wrath of Kamsa. When Kamsa heard the baby’s cries he feared for his life. He rushed in to kill the baby but the baby flew into the air in the form of the demigoddess Maya and told Kamsa that the child had been born elsewhere and that he would be unable to kill him.
