Yogic Strategies for Addressing Trauma
Sunday, March 1, 2020 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Workshop with Nya Patrinos and Swami Sivasankariananda
Who are we without the trauma? In our attempts to protect ourselves from pain, we can end up depriving ourselves of the very positivity and nurturing we seek. Discover the role of the nervous system in trauma and how to cultivate balance through yoga and yoga philosophy. Fire the critic. Some simple concepts and practices can start you down the path of awareness, choice and possibility. All are welcome.
Nya Patrinos (MFA, C-IAYT, ERYT500, YACEP) is passionate about yoga, art, and meditation as tools for healing and transformation. She has created and taught numerous workshops, teacher trainings and therapeutic yoga classes in United States and Europe. Nya’s education is a combination of East and West. She has a Diploma of Merit in Yoga Therapy from the Ghosh College of India in Calcutta, and a Certificate in Yoga Therapy from Kripalu’s School of Integrative Yoga Therapy in Massachusetts.
Swami Sivasankariananda (RYT500, C-IAYT) directs the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Los Angeles and is committed to bringing the therapeutic benefits of yoga to a wider population.
The talk is followed by a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Class from 2:30–4:00pm. All levels welcome.
