The traditional practice of Ayurveda, the ancient science of health and well-being, sheds light on the importance of nutrition, herbal remedies, and lifestyle choices. Attentive to women’s needs, important practices to consider are those addressing self-care, stress management, and emotional balance. It is essential we take time for ourselves.
Menopause is a natural transition from an active and achievement-oriented stage of life to a more graceful and inwardly-focused one. Yet, many women find themselves beset with physical and emotional issues during this time. Ayurveda provides a holistic way of understanding the changes which are occurring. It also offers simple dietary and lifestyle tools and practices to help maneuver the transition.
By way of orientation, the session will begin with a brief recap of basic Ayurvedic concepts like Dosha, before then proceeding with some Ayurvedic insights into women’s health in general and menopause, in particular. The session will include practical, specific suggestions for diet and lifestyle adjustments to address common imbalances. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

Ajita Patel is an Ayurvedic Doctor, Reiki Master, CMT and certified yoga teacher. She is a state-certified Clinical Ayurveda and Panchakarma Specialist. She received her Ayurveda degree from the California College of Ayurveda and the American Institute of Vedic Studies. She has undertaken clinical and professional training from Dr. Vasant Lad, an Ayurveda Ashram in Kerala and at the AVP hospital in Tamil Nadu, India.
