POSTPONED – The Science of Happiness with Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian
Saturday, April 18 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Happiness has many hues. We experience it in various ways, such as satisfaction, pleasure, delight, contentment, joy, and bliss. What is it, really? Where does it come from? What is the source of happiness?
The most transitory happiness we experience is physical. The happiness we experience when we set goals and reach them, or succeed in life, stays with us longer. Even more enduring than that is the happiness we experience when we serve life by selflessly helping others.
The highest happiness is the bliss we experience through Self-knowing, through realizing our true nature. When we experience our essential nature, we discover our innate wholeness. That experience is free from desire. Nothing needs to be added or attained for us to be happy. We are inherently blissful.
Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian is a meditation teacher, poet, writer, and the spiritual director of the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment—a Kriya Yoga Meditation Center with headquarters in San Jose, California. She has taught Kriya Yoga nationally and internationally for more than three decades and has received several community service awards, including the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Award for the Promotion of Religious Pluralism from the American Hindu Foundation. Ordained to teach in 1982 by Roy Eugene Davis, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, her message is “engaged enlightenment” – an invitation to live an awakened, creatively inspired, and fulfilled life, now. Her latest book, The Jewel Abundance: Finding Prosperity through the Ancient Wisdom of Yoga, was recently published by New World Library.
