Yoga Class- A Practice of Yogic Healing:


We begin by practicing kriya based pranayama and move into a simple, easy therapeutic asana practice, come back to a mindful pranayama and move through chanting to meditation.

Lecture- The Gut-Mind Connection Goes Through The Heart:


While advances in psychotherapy have begun to acknowledge the mind-gut connection, yoga and Ayurveda have long known that this connection not only goes through the heart but begins in it. In this lecture we will look at how this ancient knowledge can inform our current therapy models for more effective results. That practices for the heart also heal the gut and the brain. All deeper healing must address the heart. Here we will try to understand the heart as the root of mind and that which emanates this mind to the whole body through 10 great channels, informing all our decisions by the feelings we base them upon.

Arun Deva is a senior Ayurvedic Practitioner, and certified as a Yoga Therapist by both IAYT and NAMA. He currently is on the NAMA Board, and Director of Ayurveda for LMU's YTRX Yoga Therapy program. His focus is turning more and more towards how both yoga and Ayurveda can help with trauma and lesser psychosomatic disturbances. Arun believes if we understand the ancient teachings in relation to current psychotherapies, we can greatly expand our ability to achieve success in alleviating psychosomatic disturbances. Arun Deva teaches yearly at the Sivananda Yoga Farms on Emotional Intelligence.
