Satsang means ‘“association with the wise.” Meditating together in a group creates a strong spiritual atmosphere which allows a deeper experience of meditation. In satsang, people of different levels practise together – from newcomers to experienced Yoga teachers.
Satsang is the heart of the Yoga practice. It consists of 30 minutes of silent meditation, 30 minutes of meditative chanting of mantras and kirtan and an easy-to-follow lecture on Yoga philosophy or psychology. The steady, joyful practice of satsang tangibly builds the energy at the Yoga Center.
Our chant book reflects the inclusiveness of the Sivananda lineage, with a section of chants for each of the main Hindu deities, as well as chants in English and Hebrew. Many of the Sanskrit chants are followed by translations. There is a mysterious power in every word. Our Daily Chants (Jaya Ganesha) and a few bhajans are accompanied by harmonium and simple percussion. At Sunday satsangs, we tend to chant the very beautiful Sunday Prayers.

We recite Swami Sivananda's Universal Prayer and conclude satsang with arati, waving and receiving the Divine Light. We also share prasad, a sweet offering.
Satsang is held every morning except Sunday at 6:00am for about an hour. There are evening satsangs on Wednesdays at 7:15 and Sundays at 6:15pm. You are welcome to join us for a bowl of hearty vegetarian soup after Sunday evening satsang. There is a rotation of people who prepare the soup.

Swami Adi Parashaktiananda
Swami Adi Parashaktiananda is a dedicated Sadhak and Hatha Yoga practitioner and teacher, graduated from Sivananda Teachers Training Course in 2007 at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, CA. He took the first monastic vow from Sivananda lineage in 2011. He has been traveling yearly to Vietnam as Swami Sitaramananda's assistant and has been teaching the Hatha Yoga classes for the Teachers Training Course. He has also been traveling to Chengdu, China to help teach the Teachers Training Course there. He also teaches a 7-day Hatha Yoga Sadhana course and the 14-day Sivananda Sadhana Intensive course, whose emphasis is on individual practice of pranayama. He took sannyas vows in 2017 and received the name Swami Adi Parasahktiananda.
